Harris spends Annual Employee Volunteer Day at The Caring Place

On June 10, 2010 more than 2,000 employees of Harris and BMO Capital Markets visited over 70 community organizations in Illinois, Indiana, Washington and Wisconsin for a company-wide volunteer event.

The 4th Annual Harris/BMO Capital Markets Employee Volunteer Day partners employees and executives with various non-profit organizations to perform community projects. The volunteers will read and entertain young children, clean and landscape, painted, organize storage rooms, restock food pantries and much more.

This year, Harris employees in the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland area – led by David Mika, Northwest Indiana Regional President – teamed up to paint and spruce up the main entryway at The Caring Place – a safe shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and their dependent children.

Because of the traumatic circumstances in which a client is visiting The Caring Place, our mission is for a client to enter the main hallway at the front of the Shelter and immediately experience warmth and clarity. This entrance is their first encounter with Client Advocates and Case Managers, and often their first step to seeking safety and independence. David Mika and his team at Harris were tremendous in accomplishing this project while having the mission at heart.

Many thanks to David Mika and our friends at Harris!
